Tooth Preparation Metal-Ceramic Dental Crown Restoration

1. Incisal/occlusal reduction guide grooves using tapered round tipped diamond bur. Clearance should be 1.5 to 2 mm in intercuspal positions and all excursions.
2. Incisal/occlusal reduction with tapered round tipped diamond bur.
3. Labial reduction guide grooves (two plane/bi-planar) using tapered round tipped idamond bur. Clearance should be 1.2 to 1.5 mm.
4. Labial reduction (two plane) using tapered flat tipped diamond bur.
5. Axial reduction using tapered round tipped diamond bur.
6. Lingual reduction using football shaped diamond. It should provide 1 mm clearance in all excursions. Greater or equal 1.5 mm if occlusal is porcelain.
7. Finishing of shoulder with tapered flat tipped diamond. Shoulder must extend at least 1 mm lingual to proximal contact area; bevel, if selected, should be at as far as incisal as possible relative to epithelial attachment.
